Isyana Adriani Arslan, born May 14 1983, is a proud alumna of Universitas Indonesia (where she gained a diploma in English as A Second Language in 2005) and The University of Auckland (where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Films, Television and Media Studies (FTVMS) in 2008.) After a slew of part-time jobs in both New Zealand and Indonesia, and a full-time stint at a Japanese management consulting company that left her a little disillusioned, Isyana is out in the open exploring her options...and trying to survive a severe quarter life crisis. back from hiatus...again
Hey guys. Back from unannounced hiatus. As always, wondering which direction my life will take. Which is kinda unnecessary because I already know which direction I AM going to take my life...I'm just still not sure if I really want to make the sacrifices needed to make my dreams come true. My online store is underway. Jean I hope you're still interested! LOL. My IT expert friend offered to give the store a professional revamp (so yes an amateur version is already up and running...designed by yours truly. Good luck looking it up on Google), but my is he taking forever to finish it! And I'm currently in the midst of setting up somekind of a media center, partially for the store but in majority for something else. Can't give an in-depth explanation of what that something else is in fear of someone - or some major company - stealing my idea. Yes it happened back in March. A major institution stole my idea and took all the credit to themselves. I hope you live everyday with a smile on your face! Be strong, be happy :) Listening to: Fanny Hamlin - Go Your Own Way Saturday, May 30, 2009, 07:54 a.m. | Birthday TILT
This is my 26th birthday baby! What
's not to love? This is the first time in eight (!!!) years that I celebrate a birthday with a boyfriend! Not gonna tell you what Pilar's gotten me...Ok, a hint. Something from The Body Shop! My long-time readers must know my unwavering loyalty to this brand :) The birthday discount vouchers I used to get in Auckland, from my favourite stores such as Lippy, Country Road...I should still get them now since I didn't tell the store management I left New Zealand, and boy does it sadden me to think that those vouchers must be sitting in my apartment mailbox now and will be picked up later by Inga, my German-born new tenant, to be handed to the apartment manager who will throw them away because I didn't tell him my address in Jakarta! Random fave book mention: La Republique d'Amour by Carol Shields. Ok the title isn't originally French, but I was in the mood to practice my French :) This is a no-ordinary love story, nowhere near the Cinderella nor the Hollywood power couple kind. Read it and you'll love it forever. Listening to: nothing Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11:19 p.m. | my first day back tutoring
Ok. So it was fun. My student is a 32-year-old secretary of an Australian oil company whose office is at Pacific Place Building. And despite working there for three years, this lady SPEAKS ALMOST NO ENGLISH. Doesn't even know the ABC. Why the Australian bigwigs hired her in the first place is beyond me. We had the lessons after office hours when everyone had gone home, and we had it on the floor of the lobby with our legs stretched out and the sofa cushions underneath our bottoms. She seemed enthusiastic about the lessons, asking for an extra half an hour from the 1,5 hours we agreed on for yesterday and tomorrow (her schedule is Monday and Wednesday.) I hope she'll retain her enthusiasm until the very end of the project. Her boss gives her three months to gain a good command of English. Let's keep our fingers crossed for that. On another note, I'm sad to hear that Jordan and Peter Andre have split up after nearly five years of marriage. NOOOOOO...They're my favorite white trash couple! Hello! Back from hibernating everyone! So. I'm back tutoring part-time at La Rose tomorrow. Except I won't be tutoring at the La Rose headquarter and I won't be tutoring cute Korean kids again (for now.) I'm going to tutor a lady (she's a total beginner) at her office, which is located at the Pacific Place building. Yes, a huge mall! LOL. I'm doing it part-time (Monday and Wednesday this time), so I'm back earning a pittance...But at least I'm earning something, and I'm not gonna look for another full-time gig until the lady finishes all her lessons. I don't want to hurt my Kiwi boss' feelings by making her feel like a 'stand-in' while I await a new full-time job. So yeah! Woo! I'm so excited! I like tutoring, and I get to do it wearing jeans and a t-shirt! LOL. Anyway, I'm also getting excited again about my 26th, which is coming in four days y'all! This is my first birthday back in the homeland in four years! Ok, help me decide where to have a birthday dinner! Pizza Marzano or Pancious!? Also!!! Happy belated birthday to my high school mates Rofan and Gina, who turned 26 on the 6th! These two were high school sweethearts back in the day, so can you imagine having a boyfriend/girlfriend who shares the exact same birthday as you! And happy 26th birthday to our newlywed Denny! Still sorry that I couldn't make it to your raja sehari day! Many happy returns though! Listening to: nothing Sunday, May 10, 2009, 10:12 a.m. | heigh ho may!
Hey everyone! Happy May! Ok, birthday shout-outs first! Happy belated 21st birthday to Audrey and 29th to Mario on May 1! And today is my former supervisor's 36th birthday! Happy birthday Pak Tumbur! Spring is springing in the northern hemisphere, and fall leaves beautiful petals and leaves falling in the southern hemisphere. It's flowers everywhere you look, and my birthday is just around the corner...yet I don't feel like celebrating. Listening to: Miley Cyrus - The Climb Tuesday, May 5, 2009, 08:23 a.m. | |
